
Little Grass Valley Reservoir is at 5046 ft. elevation and covers 1615 acres with a 16 mile shoeline. Trees are mostly conifers, predominantly White fir and pine. Temperatures run in the 70's and 80's during the days with cool nights . Summer thundershowers are possible. The lake provides swimming, boating and excellent fishing. Groceries, propane, gasoline and a restaurant are available in the nearby towns of Strawberry and Challenge.
Northwest Park Management operates nine U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in the Little Grass Valley Recreation Area with a total of 338 sites. Campgrounds are near the lake and have flush toilets and piped in water.No hookups are available. All sites have a parking spur, picnic table and fire ring-bbq. Sites will accomodate up to 30 ft trailers comfortably and occupancy is limited to 6 persons and 2 vehicles per site.. Maximum stay is 14 days. Reservations are available at the Red Feather, Running Deer and Horsecamp only. Horse Camp is restricted to equestrians only. All facilities are generally open from June to October.
